You know, I don't get it. Since when are you not allowed to ask a Chinese man where a Chinese restaurant is? I mean, aren't we getting a little too sensitive here? If someone asks me, "which direction is Israel," I don't go flying off the handle.

One whacky Sunday...

Since I apparently am a glutton for punishment and enjoy the feeling of sleep deprivation, I thought it would be a fun idea to stay up for 28 straight hours on Sunday and do as many things as a human being can possibly accomplishment in a single day.

Allow me to recap:

Sunday, July 1, 01:00: David Broza sunrise concert at Masada.

One of the cooler things I've done recently is go to this concert by David Broza, one of most famous Israeli singer/songwriters of all time. Except this wasn't your typical, Nissan Pavilion/Great Woods/Giants Stadium show. This was at Masada, the legendary desert fortress about an hour outside of Jerusalem. And it started at 3 a.m. which meant David was still singing when the sun came up around 6. Absolutely gorgeous.

Oh, well whaddya know...I have pictures and video:

Somewhere around 3 a.m. Masada is in the background.

Somewhere around 5:30 a.m. Masada didn't move, but the sun did.

Me and the IBL crew: Gary Rosen and Michael Klein

The Hebrew U crew and some IBL players who joined in for the festivities.

Sunday, July 1, 16:30: Call IBL game for American broadcast.

I hustled back to Jerusalem around 9 a.m. after the show and basically went straight to Petach Tikva to call the Petach Tikva/Tel Aviv baseball game that will air in select cities in the States on Thursday. This broadcast went much smoother...mainly because I got the rosters more than 5 minutes before the opening pitch. Either way, still a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. And yes, it's still very weird to be watching pro baseball in the Middle East.

By the way, thanks to everyone who tuned into the PBS game last week to witness the train wreck that was my re-entry into the world of broadcasting. Much appreciated!

Sunday, July 1, 22:00: Mike's Place...The Return of 2 and 1/2 French!

Ran from the baseball game to fulfill my true calling in life: Pretend Rock and Roll God. We got the band back together! Me and my two French roommates booked a 2-hour open mic session at the famous (or infamous depending on how well the burgers are cooked) Mike's Place bar in Jerusalem. 2 and 1/2 French was back, baby!

The crowd (and by "crowd" I mean the 6 people we paid to come watch us) was going wild all night and the groupies came out in droves to see us in the VIP room after the show (and by "groupies" I mean the bartender who threatened to kick our a$$es if we didn't get out of the bar quickly).

All in all, a great night.

So that was my Sunday. Another average day in Israel.
